Essential Job FunctionsThe Silicon Application Engineer is responsible for project management including the technical and quality relationship with the assigned customers.Serves as company liaison with customer on quality and technical matters.Coordinates the investigation and resolution of complex technical and quality issues with an international cross-functional team. Diagnose root causes of customer issues including critical line down, yield deterioration, and exceptional productivity loss.Provide input and determine strategies to ensure customer roadmap alignment and the introduction of new products, technology, and metrology.Key member of customer facing account team, requires a high level of coordination with the Account Manager and Customer Service representative. Work closely with the technical, sales & marketing teams to close new business opportunities and act as liaison with other technical staff.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in material science / engineering / physics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Excellent ability to work well with others, facilitate workgroups or teams, and control and document work sessions and meetings.Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.Knowledge and understanding of statistics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), testing methodology (DOE), 5-step Problem-solving, and 8D methodology.Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.Domestic, and possibly international, travel required.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in materials science / engineering / physicsFour to six years of relevant work experienceSolid understanding of silicon technology and defectsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExpertise, talents, characteristics and behaviors which are typically representative, but not all-inclusive, of those commonly associated with the job.Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the area of technical support.Display initiative and accept responsibility for own actions to get the job done under general supervision.Apply knowledge and skills to perform assignments with little instruction.Continuously and actively develop industry and professional knowledge, skills and expertise.Understand implications of work, exercise judgment and discretion in recommending solutions and improvements to processes.Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.Effectively utilize available and relevant technical tools and resources (e.g., Microsoft Office, other software, etc.).Possess exellent verbal and written communication skills.
