Job Description

Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the planning and directing of the accounting activities under the guidance and direction of the Controller. This includes leading daily operations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, managers various audits, and related duties. Additionally, this role will establish and scale company accounting and finance operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
  • Hires and trains new employees including establishing and monitoring training and development plans
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned employees.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
  • Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Works with business leaders to manage and support each department during the budget process.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
  • Responsible for preparing reports necessary for tax planning throughout the fiscal year;
  • Files annual corporate tax return.
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Prepares and reviews appropriate ledger entries and performs account reconciliations.
  • Maintains the general ledger in Irium
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Intermediate experience with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field required
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting
  • Experience working in a leadership role preferred
  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is also valuable.
  • Certified Public Accounting a plus
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to travel occasionally
  • Must be able to continuously talk, hear and speak with good articulation and voice control.
  • Must be able to use fingers and hands to handle, feel and reach with hands and arms to lift, file and handle files
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment under significant stress and meet high performance demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times
  • Must be able to life, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl occasionally
  • Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

This position also entails the necessity to work after normal working hours or on weekends based on business needs. Works under normal office conditions where required to sit for extended periods of time. Regularly spend significant amounts of time working in front of a computer terminal or in interactions with various people. Some travel may be required. Needs to be able to cope with stressors and demands that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable and defined levels of performance are maintained.
