Encodia is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein analysis easy and ubiquitous by using a novel technology that encodes peptide sequence information in DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.
Encodia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering consultant with fluidics design experience to assist with our ongoing projects.
Responsibilities :
Design and develop prototype fluidics system
Develop and execute test methods to evaluate fluidic architectures
Lead customization of critical fluid components such as pumps, valves tubing and sensors to meet cost, reliability, serviceability and performance requirements
Collaborate cross functionally to translate assay/chemistry requirements to engineering designs
Refine instrument requirements, develop system and subsystem tests to verify instrument meets requirements and specifications
Able to quickly build & manufacture prototyping of high-volume consumables
What you bring to this role:
Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering BS, MS or PhD with 12+ years of industry experience
Hands on experience with fluidics design/system
Experience designing specialist tests and assembly fixtures
Experience using rapid prototyping equipment, 3D printers and laser cutters
Extensive experience in product development, including launching at least one product
Able to quickly build & manufacture prototyping of high-volume consumables
Strong process documentation and maintenance, including CAD models, part drawings, assembly instructions, and bill of materials;
Able to utilize change management practices to drive safety, quality, efficiency, and cost improvements
Available to consult on site at our San Diego office at least two days per week
Highly Desirable:
Familiarity with cartridge or flowcell-based fluidics for complex assays, eg NGS and other molecular array platforms
Flow Cell manufacturing experience desired, including rapid prototyping using soft lithography, machining and micro molding
SolidWorks design experience
