Baystate Medical Center is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: As our inaugural Division Chief of Rheumatology, partner with our Chair of Medicine and other key stakeholders in the creation of a new academic division that will span across our system. Develop a strategy for meeting community need, oversee clinical operations, and lead recruitment efforts to build an academic-focused team. Identify opportunities for growth of the division’s clinical, educational, and scholarly programs. Join our 2 employed rheumatologists. Collaborate closely with medical specialties, physician therapy and rehab providers. Promote a culture of engagement and respect within our multidisciplinary team and facilitate strong relationships with leadership to advocate for the needs of patients, providers, and the division. While the division will be primarily ambulatory, there is a need to develop an inpatient consult service at Baystate Medical Center. Baystate has 4 infusion suites across our organization. Develop the next generation of clinicians by delivering comprehensive education to internal medicine and med/ped residents, medical students and other learners. Faculty members will have an academic appointment at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate. This position is 0.75 FTE clinical with 0.25 FTE protected administrative time. QUALIFICATIONS: ABMS BC in Rheumatology. Minimum of 5 years’ experience with evidence of progressive management responsibilities in an academic department. Demonstrated leadership experience initiating and maintaining successful operational goals in the areas of safety, quality, patient experience, value and leadership.
