The Events Manager will have a broad range of responsibilities within the Events team that will focus on, but not limited to the following:

  • Work with the Director of Events on the organization and management of event preparation processes, activities, and overall logistics for all events and, most notably, JAF's signature events gala and golf.
  • Manage sponsorships once secured by the VP of Corporate Partnerships, issuing acknowledgment emails and sending DocuSign invoices, securing sponsor logos, confirming attendees, asset fulfillment with the Creative Director, etc., enlisting the Event Coordinator as needed.
  • Create and draft communication plan for event participants (work with Marketing/Communications) (e.g., concierge email, external donors)
  • Lead auction process, creating a diverse and appealing auction catalog to meet revenue goals, engaging Event Coordinator to support auction solicitation, procurement, and entry into Salesforce or auction platform
  • Primary manager of any event platform (e.g., GiveSmart, Classy, etc.), including identification of tech support or training necessary.
  • Oversee the Event Coordinator, other staff, and volunteers' auction solicitation work
  • Support the Director of Events with project management tasks (e.g., creating a Basecamp Project for each signature and community event and inviting internal and external people who have roles and responsibilities for the project).
  • Work with the Director of Events to create competitive and strong sponsorship packages for each event, collaborating with the team to ensure solicitation appeal to donors (Development) and, identify marketable assets and create supporting materials (Marketing and Communications) (e.g., solicitation letters, info sheet)
  • With the Director of Events, build strong committees by providing training and support so that they may be able to identify and solicit sponsors, ensuring critical in-kind donations of goods and services for events.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Event Coordinator (with assistance from the Director of Events) to ensure all event information goes into Salesforce and that the following systems and processes are in place to acknowledge donors, sponsors/partners, and volunteers in a timely manner for their support.
  • Together with the Director of Events, oversee all efforts by the Event Coordinator to ensure smooth day-of-event production and attendee experience, including registration, volunteer training, delivery of sponsor benefits, securing sites, securing permits, menu selection, event staging, and all related actions.

JAF Events include:

  • Team JAF (e.g., Boston Marathon, Falmouth Road Race, other athletic activities)
  • Hop Over Events (brewery fundraisers)
  • Annual Gala
  • Joe Andruzzi & Friends Golf Tournament
  • Third-Party Fundraisers

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree (or equivalent applicable work experience)
  • Event professional with five or more years of successful experience preferred in fundraising, event management, and annual fund activities required
  • Engagement with and passion for JAF's mission is essential
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, ability to engage, inspire, build credibility, and engender trust with diverse audiences, which includes the ability to develop committees and councils, negotiate, and resolve conflicts effectively while preserving important relationships with partners and funders
  • Self-motivated, able to balance multiple and competing priorities or deadlines, excellent organizational skills, and ability to track various projects/programs tasks as delegated to event staff
  • Strong budget management experience, detail-oriented, and able to work well in evolving circumstances
  • Willingness to share own ideas, even amongst Board and committee members and senior staff
  • Trustworthy, ethical, and authentic in all situations
  • Strong computer skills

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary range of $63,000 to $71,500 annually. The range was established after a comprehensive market data analysis and industry benchmarks.
