DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Food Service Workers perform routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation/serving areas at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Veterans Home. Duties include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items; preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts, and nourishment; using equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, grinders. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, 40 hours every 2 weeks.
  • Work hours are first shift: 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM with at 30-minute lunch period; first week work Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday; second week work Monday; then the schedule repeats.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience
  • Willingness to work in Erie, Erie County Pennsylvania
  • Willingness to work part-time
  • Willingness to work 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM
  • Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
  • Experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
  • Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
