The physicians of Gastroenterology Associates are affiliated with Frye Regional Medical Center, Catawba Valley Medical Center, and Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln.

Job Description

The Patient Services Representative at Gastroenterology Associates is responsible for greeting all patients and visitors by phone, or in person in a positive matter. Schedule patient office visits and perform all sign-in procedures with a patient oriented focus. Coordinate all clinical phone calls with Physician, nurse and clinical staff. Check out patients and perform any duties with regard to the front office.

Major Job Functions:
  • Arrive at work by 8:00 am and leave by 5 pm.
  • Run schedules, and greet patients.
  • Greet all patients and perform check-in duties including verifying all information and updating in EHR system;
  • Check-in patients and collect co-payments;
  • Answer telephone calls and transfer to appropriate staff member;
  • Make copies and fax medical records as required;
  • Schedule and re-schedule appointments;
  • Assist other co-workers when needed;
  • Assist in sorting and organizing supplies orders after Front Desk Manager places an order;
  • Perform other tasks when requested by Physicians or someone in Administration;
  • Focus on good customer service;
  • Straighten the lobby before leaving for the day.
Qualifications

The following are the minimum requirements for this position:
  • Education: High School Degree or GED
  • Work experience: Previous experience as a receptionist, customer service environment desirable


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

- Must have pleasant personality and make patients and visitors feel welcome at all times;

- Excellent phone skills and message taking ability;

- Must have the ability to communicate, both in written and verbally, with patients and staff;

- Organized with the ability to do several tasks in an efficient manner;

- Ability to interact with a variety of personality types;

- Proficient in Microsoft Office;

- Working knowledge of medical terminology;

- Working knowledge of different insurance types;

- Thorough knowledge of English, spoken and written;

- Working knowledge of all types of business office machines (fax, copier, scanner, telephone, etc.).
