The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted for review ImmunityBio's resubmission of its Biologics License Application (BLA) for N-803, a first-in-class IL-15 superagonist, plus Bacillus Calmette-Gurin (BCG) for the treatment of BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer carcinoma in situ (CIS) with or without Ta or T1 disease, and has set a user fee goal date (PDUFA date) of April 23, 2024.

Position Summary

The Director, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting is a key part of the accounting team and will be involved in all aspects of financial and SEC reporting processes. This role will provide technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. The role will involve close collaboration with tax, legal, FP&A, as well as a broad group of cross-functional business teams to provide guidance and analysis while developing effective and efficient accounting and reporting processes.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly consolidation of Company financial statements, analytical review of consolidated results and preparation of the quarterly financial reporting packages.
  • Provide technical accounting research and documentation for significant transactions and support the review process with management and external auditors.
  • Prepare and review the Company's SEC financial reporting on Form 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K, including the creation of auditable support, and leads the analysis of the content.
  • Review the quarterly FASB and SEC updates, interpret new accounting pronouncements, and assess the financial and operational implications.
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. Responsible for reviewing the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for stock compensation, investment, leases, contingent liabilities, and other complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  • Oversee the contracts and agreements, research relevant accounting guidance, and recommend accounting and disclosure requirements for complex non-routine transactions.
  • Review SEC filings related to XBRL reporting.
  • Facilitate and ensure execution of the internal reporting calendar and communications with stakeholders to ensure deadline adherence.
  • Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors.
  • Develop the existing team of talented technical accountants and experts in SEC reporting.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business-related fields.
  • CPA is required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years in top-tier public accounting firms (Big 4 preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with financial reporting, SEC Reporting, and US GAAP
  • Extensive experience in GAAP accounting, particularly in stock compensation, investment, revenue, debts, lease, intangible assets and derivatives accounting.
  • Experience with Workiva or Active Disclosure, E*TRADE EEO, and detailed XBRL tagging referred preferred
  • Experience biotech or healthcare industry preferred but not required
  • Lead experience with an emphasis on relationship management and communication at all levels within an organization
  • Experience leading, coaching and mentoring a team

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$175,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $215,000 (highly experienced) annually
