Thermal Care, part of the Piovan Group, is a leading manufacturer of process cooling equipment and systems for applications worldwide. As an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, Thermal Care provides heat transfer equipment for over 50 industries and specializes in meeting the specific needs of our customers by offering both standard and custom designed industrial process cooling solutions. Some of the industries served include plastics, laser, heat treating, food processing, machine tool, plating, anodizing, chemical, die casting, optical coating, and printing.

Role

The Manufacturing Engineer performs the analysis of methods, processes, tools, and systems required for Thermal Care's manufacturing and fabrication activities. This role also performs research and analysis tasks on product, customer, marketing, and system requirements to determine feasibility of design. This position reports to the Quality Manager and is located in Niles, Illinois.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead small groups focused on continuous improvements and provide technical expertise solving process problems
  • Coordinate and communicate with other departments (Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot equipment and part defects; implement corrective actions quickly and effectively
  • Create and manage process documentation such as work instructions and set-up instructions
  • Develop new manufacturing equipment and processes; write equipment specifications
  • Design fixtures, jigs, packaging and storage systems to improve efficiency in manufacturing and material handling processes
  • Optimize the manufacturing process to improve quality and material flow, while reducing cycle times and set-up times
  • Provide training for new and modified processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with the development, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Experience as a leader of cost focused solutions to manufacturing issues
  • Manufacturing or Industrial engineering experience in an OEM a plus
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT, OEE, line sequencing, KANBAN, etc.
  • Experience leading Kaizen events is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and organization aptitude
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, CAD programs, etc.)
