Job DescriptionAbout the Role:
As a Principal Engineer for the GenAI Knowledge Assets team, you will play a critical role in driving the technical vision and direction of the team. You will work closely with cross functional tea, including Cybersecurity, AI as a Service and Business teams to design and develop an enterprise-level solution for GenAI Knowledge Assets, including developing a business strategy, building knowledge management orchestration, and leading data product development to create value and boost Visa's GenAI applications .
You will be an integral part of the leadership team, setting up technical roadmap, exploring and introducing the industry standard technology to the team, and o the knowledge management system, working with development managers and teams to identify and resolve technical challenges, and working with different products and data science teams to streamline the feature request and model onboarding.
- AI / Generative AI represent a remarkable technological advancement with profound impact on the corporate landscape and a promise of increased worker efficiency. However, its effectiveutilizationis contingent upon the availability of high-quality contentforthe right AIsolutionsand the right internal audiences.
- The strong strategic and operational management of Visa documents and dataforuse with our emerging set of GenAI tools will be critical.The principal engineer role will have an exciting set of responsibilities at the frontier of driving GenAI adoption and information stewardship.This role will be a critical catalystforinnovation in the use of GenAI.
- This role willbe responsibleforbuilding architecture to execute on strategic prioritiesforenabling access to Visa's valuable document and data assets. driving access to Visa documents and data assets as well as developing the longer-term strategyforGenAI adoption and the required supporting cultural transformation.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with project teams, data science teams and development teams to drive the technical roadmap and guide development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
- Drive technical standard and best practices, and continuously improve AI Platform engineering scalability.
- Coaching and mentoring junior team members and evolving team talent pipeline.
- Define a structured architectural approach to address thecomponentparts of our document framework,formulate relevant hypotheses and support project work steps.
- Drive effective implementation and evolution of go-forward document governanceforaccess and use based on document content, confidentiality, and access requirements.
- Drivechange through creative, novel, disruptive, but highly practical and implementable solutions to the challenges faced.
- Partner with Global Data Office to develop the required technological solutions to automate key document management functions and the evolving Visa Library capabilities to support our Visa Gen AI tools.
- Monitor and understand global AI solutions landscapefordeployment and application of internal knowledge to bring the best solutions and best practices to the Visa ecosystem.
- This role requires you to be hands-on coding at least 20% of the time in your preferred coding language - open to Java, Python, Spark, Golang.
Additional information:
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
* 12+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 9
years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD,
MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 15+ years of relevant work
experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 15 or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 12 years of
experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with
9+ years of experience
* Ideal candidates would have experience with the implementation of
knowledge frameworks and solutions for GenAI applications.
* Experience with Rust, Golang, Java, Python, or C/C++
* Expert in web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC)
* Advanced knowledge of AI / Generative AI / Data Science.
* Authority in architecting solutions with Continuous Integration and
Continuous Delivery in mind
* Expert in distributed in-memory computing technologies like Redis.
* A background in the payment domain is a plus.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 203,800.00 to 295,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
