Itinerant Public Health Nurse

What you will be doing: Join us as an Itinerant Public Health Nurse in the Juneau Public Health Clinic. This position can be hired at the 1, 2, or 3 level. Public Health Nurse (PHN) 1: This is an entry-level role where you’ll start your journey in public health nursing. You’ll provide essential services to individuals, families, and communities, focusing on comprehensive care and system-based public health initiatives. Public Health Nurse (PHN) 2: At this level, you’ll be fully skilled in all areas of public health nursing. You’ll work independently, offering a broad range of services in collaboration with individuals, communities, groups, organizations, and systems. This role is perfect for those ready to take on more responsibility and showcase their expertise. Public Health Nurse (PHN) 3: In this advanced role, you’ll independently deliver a full spectrum of public health nursing services to villages and rural communities. You’ll use a holistic approach that includes individual, community, and systems-based care. This position involves frequent travel within the state, approximately two trips per month, offering a dynamic and engaging work environment. The working environment you can expect: This position is based in the Juneau Public Health Center, 3412 Glacier Highway. Juneau is a beautiful coastal community in Southeast Alaska and the capital of Alaska. Who we are looking for: To be successful in the position, the candidate will need to show the following Competencies in detail in their application work history: Evidence-Based Practice: Integrates best research practices with clinical and/or subject matter expertise and patient values for optimum care. Human Services: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and practices used in the planning, design, and implementation of programs that provide a broad range of social supports to individuals and families. Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment. Special Notice: This position requires frequent travel (1 to 2 times a month) to remote areas of Alaska via small aircraft and/or boat. A valid Driver's License and a valid Alaska Registered Nursing License are required at the time of appointment. CPR Certification will be required. Minimum Qualifications: Public Health Nurse 1: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska; AND Current acceptance and enrollment in a Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science (RN-to-BSN) bridge program from an accredited college or university. Public Health Nurse 2: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska; AND Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Public Health Nurse 3: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska; AND Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university or Direct Entry Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from an accredited college or university; AND Any combination of additional education, certification, and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in public health.
