Job Description

Sinclair, Inc. is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to join our corporate SRE team in Hunt Valley, MD.

What you'll be doing:
  • Capture and understand business requirements matching network technology and designs to the needs of the business to achieve desired outcomes
  • Design a diverse set of networks that transports video traffic between different locations across the Nation
  • Design a hybrid-cloud network environment combining both on-prem network technologies and AWS advanced networking configuration to meet the needs of Sinclair
  • Design support processes and procedures for Cisco/Arista/AWS networking deployments in conjunction with the Sinclair Cloud SRE team
  • Develop network automation and day-2 operation practices for enterprise deployments
  • Provide technical leadership for a team of engineers tasked with daily WAN / LAN operations for both on-prem and Cloud networking projects
  • Work with the Sinclair Security team to design Firewall architectures, incorporating IPsec tunnels to connect multi-cloud environments and 3rd party providers to the Sinclair enterprise
  • Work with Cisco, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, AWS, Azure, and GCP networking solutions and technologies to achieve business outcomes
  • Leverage InfoBlox for management and monitoring of network devices and services along with other opensource tools for enterprise management
  • Leverage Scrutinizer to analyze NetFlow & SFlow data along with cloud-based SDN packet analysis tools to profile application traffic to identify and correct ongoing problems
  • Design and deploy the use of native cloud-based tools to manage and monitor Cloud-based environments within the Architecture
  • Provide tier 3 support to Network Team and Stakeholders as required on an on-call basis as part of a broader rotation
  • Develop policies and practices for the network team to elevate the levels of service that the organization provides for a diverse set of stakeholders throughout the company
  • Embrace DevOps practices bringing them to the Network Operation team to accelerate deployments, standards, monitoring, fault analysis, and tracking of changes throughout our enterprise
What we're looking for:
  • Knowledge of Cisco CCIE level networking required, Routing and Switching, Data Center, Enterprise Infrastructure disciplines
  • Deep understanding of LAN and Enterprise WAN architectures and how they are used to design global video delivery networks
  • Expert knowledge in Network Troubleshooting with a focus on the OSI model as it relates to enterprise networking
  • 10+ years' experience Designing and Supporting Enterprise WAN environments
  • 10+ years' experience with complex LAN, WAN, Datacenter, and Cloud environments
  • Must have knowledge of Python and Ansible to develop network automation solutions
  • AWS Associate Certifications - Sysops, Devops, Solution Architect a plus
  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Speciality Certification a plus
  • Experience in cloud networking (Azure Express Route and AWS connections) is required
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Networking and Virtual Network Functions (VNF) required
  • Knowledge of Cisco Viptella required within a wide-scale enterprise environment
  • Must be effective and clear when communicating with both technical resources and C-level management stakeholders
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a project team for large initiatives
  • Must be able to establish personal relationships with stakeholders understanding their needs and how best to accomplish their goals in a diverse non-standard environment
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where 24x7 communications are required for critical applications
  • Ability to coach and lead the existing technical team in modern operations and DevOps practices to bring higher levels of automation, documenting, and service to our internal customers
