The Systems Engineer II will possess strong working knowledge of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems, specializing in design, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and start-up. As a Instrumentation & Controls Engineer you will travel as part of a team, to various US Military sites around the world to collect and prepare data/information, perform detailed engineering calculations, and draft detailed reports and quotes. Performs basic engineering design for review and approval by senior team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed analysis and inspection of existing systems and provide feedback and suggestions for repair, replacement, and/or upgrades to extend the operational life of the system.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably within a DoD environment.

· 3+ years of experience designing and programming control systems with emphasis on PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems is required.

· Demonstrated expertise in interpreting electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams, including but not limited to ICS/SCADA protocols used by major vendors such as Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, SEL, Tridium, and similar.

· Experience interpreting and creating low voltage electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

· Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, such as NIST, CMMC, ISA, and IEEE.

· Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, such as CMMC, NIST SP 800-53 and IEC 62443.

· Experienced with industrial control system security best practices and techniques.

· Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements for low voltage systems.

· Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in low voltage systems, such as: identifying and resolving communication errors and data loss, isolating and repairing wiring faults and short circuits.

· Ability to travel to various government installations and facilities (up to 50% travel)

· Experience with the installation, configuration and deployment of SCADA software and hardware components, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), sensors, actuators, and communication networks.

· Experience with the integration of SCADA systems with other industrial automation systems, databases, and enterprise IT systems to enable seamless data sharing and reporting.

· Able to analyze system logs, alarms and alerts to diagnose faults and anomalies and implement corrective actions.

· Creation of comprehensive documentation, including system architecture diagrams, user manuals, configuration documents and standard operating procedures.

· Must be able to successfully meet the requirements to be issued and maintain a military CAC card.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

· Experience with Automated Fuel Handling Equipment (AFHE), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Automated Tank Gauging (ATG), Independent Alarm Systems (IAS), Overfill Protection Equipment (OPE), Hydrant Fueling Automation Maintenance (HFAM), and industrial networks is preferred.

· Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data analysis.

· In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SCADA communication standards including but not limited to Modbus, DNP3, BACnet, MSTP, RS485, RS232, and RS422.

· Develop and execute control system validation/testing protocols.

· QA/QC Testing of control panels at panel shops.

· Proven experience with IEC-61131-type programming logic controllers (PLCs) such as Schneider Electric M580, Rockwell ControlLogix, and Tridium Niagara JACE controller.

· Minimum certification as IAT Level II per DoD 8140 (such as Security+), or successor.

· Basic operational technology networking knowledge (familiarity with Purdue model, OSI model, common ports and protocols, segmentation, VLANs, TCP/IP, etc.).

· Experience working with Tridium Niagara platform.

· Expertise in BACnet troubleshooting and optimization.

· Experience with start-up and commissioning of automated equipment.
