Description:
The Safety Specialist helps develop and execute the safety and occupational health component of an Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) program. This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing safety and health aspects of a project or facility. The position reports to an ES&H Manager or Designee. Provides technical assistance to other Safety Services Specialists, construction supervision, subcontractor personnel, field engineers, and client personnel.

Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in safety, construction, industrial hygiene, life sciences, physical sciences, engineering or other related field from an accredited college or university and at least 3 years of relevant experience; or, in lieu of degree, 9 years of progressive professional experience.
+ Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications.
+ Experience in safety compliance inspection/assessment during construction
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 40 hour USACE EM385 training
+ 30 hour OSHA certification
+ Five years of consecutive experience in construction safety.
+ Third-party certification in confined space safety; work at heights/fall protection, hazardous materials/IH or other related ES&H specialty.
+ First aid/AED training and certification.
