The company is commercializing novel Laser Particle technology initially developed at Massachusetts General Hospital and MIT, in which micron sized semiconductor-based lasers are used to label and track millions of individual cells at a time. Operating at the intersection of biology, chemistry, optics, and computation, LASE Innovations platform allows researchers and scientists to connect single-cell data from complementary analytical tools such as flow cytometry, microscopy, and sequencing to reveal deeper insights into biological processes.

This novel technology platform for single-cell analysis comes with exciting development challenges. Different types of Laser Particle products for different applications must be manufactured at scale, and quality control methods must be developed and executed to ensure batch-to-batch consistency.

Summary:

The primary focus of this position will be to optimize and execute processes around Laser Particle manufacturing, characterization, and quality control. The ideal candidate has a background in materials and surface chemistry with experience in industry. Some experience in biochemistry and basic cell culture methods is desirable, but not required. • Execution of quality control and analytical techniques to characterize physical, chemical, and functional properties of microparticle surfaces.
  • Communicate study design, project status, data analysis, and program plans to project team members including management.
  • Generate technical documents including SOPs, protocols, and reports summarizing manufacturing plans and analytical results.
  • Present analytical findings and results to internal external audiences in a clear and concise manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • M.Sc. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience. PhD. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field with at least 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Specific experience with particle conjugation/coatings strongly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot experimental issues independently.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques for characterization of small particles, particle surfaces, and chemical conjugation desired
  • Data analysis using tool of choice (Excel, Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Pilot scale manufacturing and scale-up
  • Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience with cell culture and cellular analysis is a plus
  • Surface metrology techniques (AFM, SEM, etc.)
