Under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records and documents test results. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to the sleep lab manager.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Holds a Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)credential.
Qualifications
Education:
- Successful completion of an accredited sleep technology educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology. Acceptable certifications: Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required
- Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) Credential.
