Position Description

The Assistant Compliance Officer is expected to be an ethical leader who has expert knowledge of Texas Tech University's policies and procedures and who strives for professional effectiveness by continually participating in professional development and educational activities to renew foundational understandings, improve skills, and acquire new knowledge. The position is expected to make informed decisions by exercising sound judgment and is expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the highest levels of integrity and competence in pursuit of equity in the academic, residential, social, and athletic programs of the university, and in the prevention of hostile environments on the basis of sex, the prohibition of other forms of discrimination and harassment on the basis of protected classes, the protection from retaliation, and in remedying the effects of discrimination and harassment. Major/Essential Functions

In conjunction with the Chief Compliance Officer, develop policies and procedures, guidelines, education, and monitoring plans to ensure institutional compliance.

  • Develop and perform an annual risk management plan; coordinate with campus partners to update their annual plans.
  • Oversee the HIPAA Compliance Program with the TTUHSC HIPAA Compliance liaison. Coordinate annual HIPAA training for the Compliance Committee and the Executive leadership.
  • Supervise the Youth Protection (Minors on Campus) Officer/program. Provide leadership and guidance on policy and compliance for this area.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Compliance Officer, provide monitoring functions for institutional compliance, including campus audits, conflicts of interest, etc.
  • Participate in a leadership role with the Campus Compliance Committee and chair related subgroups.
  • Provide training to the campus community regarding Compliance and Ethics policies at New Employee Orientation, New Faculty Orientation, President's Executive Council, Deans/Chairs committees, and other campus groups upon request.
  • Provide consultation/assistance to other Compliance employees and campus partners on TTU Institutional Compliance policies and procedures, complying with Federal and State laws, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with significant experience as a compliance professional. Must maintain professional qualifications through continuing education, training and development.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree, or JD degree, with Compliance experience preferred; Bachelor's degree with significant experience as a compliance professional may be substituted for the Master's degree. Must maintain professional qualifications through continuing education, training and development.

  • Knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, Clery, Youth Protection, HIPAA, FERPA.
  • Risk management experience.
