Foundry Specialist

Description

1) Sets up flasks and equipment.

2) Prepares casting to go down the line i.e.: dig out place for risers, insert cores etc.

3) Operates all molding machines, rollover, large and small floor stations, squeezer and jolt machines.

4) Operates Saw to remove risers.

5) Operates Belt Sander.

6) Operates Muller Sand System Machine.

7) Supplies flasks to the molding stations as required.

8) Shakes out the molds, returns the flasks and bottom boards to the molding stations.

9) Knocks out the core from the castings on the shake out machine if casting core remains.

10) Responsible for picking up chills and stacking them in the proper storage after they have been cooled off.

11) Produces cores free of defects, to avoid rework.

12) Makes own set-ups for core machine.

13) Maintains all equipment in good working order.

14) Cleans and inspects all casting until free of defects before they are released to the Machine shop.

15) Operates sand blast machine to clean castings after removal of gates and risers.

16) Removes cores from castings.

17) Performs other duties as requested by lead person or Supervisor.

Requirements

1) Basic knowledge of foundry experience.

2) Position requires frequent bending, turning, lifting, pushing, and pulling.

3) Must be safety oriented.

4) Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers.
