Overview of Role:

As an Engineer II at our Advanced Technology Center in St. Louis, MO, you will perform engineering, design and support activities for our products that serve the Energy and Environmental Technology markets, including industrial heaters, sensors, and controls. Your Key Responsibilities will include:

With nominal supervision, the Engineer II - Product Engineer will be responsible for reviewing customer specifications, design/developing products to meet customer needs, supporting products through to manufacturing, continuously improving both the product design and manufacturing processes (through design/engineering related activities) and ensuring compliance with industrial codes, national, internal and customer standards. This individual will also collaborate on projects from the initial proposal stage through the delivery to the customer, with frequent interaction with suppliers, internal customers, and external customers. You will work with a cross functional team consisting of Product Engineers, Account Managers, Sales, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to enable the company to reach challenging growth targets.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team on new product development projects from inception to completion.
  • Assist in transition and collaboration to move product into production readiness and manufacturing
  • Interface directly with our external customers. Understands customer needs and requirements, assuring customer needs are central to projects served and solutions meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Focus on improving products or processes that impact one or more work centers/cells. Projects may include multiple Watlow locations.
  • Manufacturing systems knowledge: FMEA, Process Flow and mapping, Production readiness/release for production requirements
  • Utilize Solidworks for design of new products.
  • Utilize problem solving skillset and brings team members together to accomplish goals.
  • Complete engineering drawings, change orders, and documentation packagers for product design, process, and quality
  • Interpret test requirements and prepare test procedures
  • Conduct tests and experiments and prepare test reports
  • Ensure product technical compliance to relevant industry standards (ASME, NQA-1, UL, CSA, IEC, etc)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 2 years of experience OR two-year degree with experience in design/engineering using ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, NQA-1 or similar codes/standards OR equivalent experience (5-8 years) in the design / development of products using ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, NQA-1 or similar codes/standards.
  • Demonstrated process-oriented mindset, with attention to detail within his/her work product
  • Experience with creating engineering 3D models and drawings in Solidworks (or similar 3D modelling program)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of troubleshooting techniques, root cause analysis, and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and analyze technical specifications, and apply the requirements therein to his/her work product and overall processes
  • U.S. Citizen (Non-Dual Citizen)
