**Description**

**Summary****:** The Corporate Health and Safety Manager develops and implements the policies and practices to ensure compliance with all Safety and OSHA regulations across the company. This position works under immediate supervision of the Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security. The position will focus on standardization of practices and procedures across the enterprise. Responsibilities include policy development, tracking, verifying, and ensuring safety compliance with all regulatory criteria to support company-wide excellence in health and safety management. The Corporate Health and Safety Manager will be expected to develop and lead the internal audit system, utilize system analytics to develop improvement strategies, and maintain all corporate health and safety policies and programs.

**Essential Functions:**

* Lead investigations into significant incidents related to safety compliance

* Monitor performance of safety compliance equipment and processes; recommend/develop actions to respond to deficiencies

* Ensures sites follow safety regulations and provide technical support and guidance for all safety activities

* Assist sites with data collection, recordkeeping and ensure timely submission of periodic reports to regulatory agencies

* Ensure timely and accurate completion of all safety related annual reporting including OSHA 300 logs for all locations

* Ensure all audiometric, industrial hygiene, and arch flash testing is conducted per the regulatory requirement

* Ensure all safety equipment and library materials are circulated to all locations and tracked on time

* Ensure all safety equipment service, calibrations, and records are available and maintained

* Manage and ensure Red Tag notifications are completed and closed out

* Oversee GPs Weather and Lightning Policies and effectiveness, including DTN weather alert system management

* Oversee facility Emergency Action Plans and incident prevention and effectiveness

* Develop and implement corporate safety policies and procedures

* Develop and verify a standard training schedule to ensure compliance to applicable regulations

* Writing, maintaining, and Certifying Safety plans and policies to maintain compliance with the regulatory requirement

* Develop dashboards to track open action items to completion

* Maintain accurate Safety permits, programs, policies, forms including Hot Work, Fall Protection, LOTO, Confined Space, etc.

* Conduct Ergonomic Studies, JHAs, IH Studies as necessary

* Maintain PPE Assessments and matrices

* Implement and maintain plant safety audit program

* Maintain up-to-date records at all times to comply with inspections by state and federal agencies.

* Monitoring of facility safety committees, make-up, schedule, activities

* Support site management to close audit findings and implement audit recommendations (internal and external audits)

* Lead, coordinate, and participate in EHSS performance improvement and process optimization initiatives

* Routinely (weekly) follow-up and report to corporate on status of safety performance and issues

* Address any regulatory audits, findings, NOVs, and action items promptly

* Track safety compliance status of reporting and recordkeeping for each site

* Assist in M&A activities as needed

* Serve as the Health and Safety subject matter expert for the organization

* Other tasks as necessary to support the department

**Qualifications**

* Bachelor degree in science, engineering, or related field required, 10+ years of experience in the safety field

* Both plant and corporate experience desired

* Ethanol or heavy industry experience a plus, Strong Safety Background Required

* Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations dealing with safety including, but not limited to: OSHA general industry and construction standards including process safety management, and emergency response and Work Comp.

* Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player

* Strong knowledge of root cause analysis techniques

* Strong MS Office experience and proficiency with developing and using spreadsheets and/or databases

* Ability to lead by example, multi-task, and take ownership of assigned projects

* Ability to provide rational oversight and control to the department in times of crisis

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal

* Exceptional organizational skills as they pertain to record keeping and reporting

* Bachelor degree in science, engineering, or related field required, 10+ years of experience in the health and safety field

* Both plant and corporate experience desired

* Ethanol or heavy industry experience a plus, Strong Safety Background Required.

* Travel will be expected up to 25% of the time

**Work Environment/Physical Demands:**

* Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection) when visiting plants and GPRE subsidiary sites..

* Ability to meet physical demands of the job includes but is not limited to: frequent sitting, computer use, telephone use and ability to work independently.

* Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 60 lbs, and work at heights.

* While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly exposed to:

+ moving mechanical parts

+ dusty conditions

+ high noise environments

+ outside weather in all conditions

+ chemicals used in the process

* Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
