Who We Need

Looking for an employment specialist wo will Assist with oversight of the Supported Employment Program for members with a diagnosed Mental Health challenge (GMH or SMI) seeking to obtain and/or maintain employment in the community. Follow the 7 Supported Employment Core Principals of SAMHSA (zero exclusion, member preference, rapid job search, competitive employment, integrated services, long-term supports and benefits planning.) Complete outreach and enrollments for newly referred members. Adhere to the philosophy of normalization and community integration as appropriate. Attend meetings on assigned caseload; communicate with clinical team any concerns and or accomplishments, presenting information in a professional manner. Be aware of individuals' physical restrictions and medical concerns. Be aware of normal safety routines and procedures as they apply services. Ensure that all equipment utilized is properly maintained.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in the area of social services, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated responsible administrative experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an Employment Specialist I or an Employment Specialist II.
  • Satisfactory work record as determined by the People First/Human Resources Department.
  • Successful completion of Copa's training program
  • Must have a fingerprint clearance card issued by the AZ Department of Public Safety or eligible to receive one within eight (8) weeks of hire.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.
  • TB Test clearance required at the time of hire and annually.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid AZ Driver's License with state minimum insurance coverage and ability to meet and maintain Copa Health's acceptable driving requirements.
JOB SUMMARY (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO)
  • Assist with ensuring the maintenance of departmental operations to achieve compliance with contract requirements, accreditation, licensing and monitoring standards, agency procedures, Federal/State/Local regulations and all other licensing/regulatory agencies as directed. Adhere to current training requirements and applicable accreditation and licensing/regulatory standards and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Health Information Technology for Economic Clinical Health (HITECH ) requirements.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral, written and electronic communication. Ensure the coordination of information and confidentiality of communications within the agency. Coordinate information and contribute to the successful resolution of challenges. Communicate with integrity and honesty, clearly and concisely, and in a respectful manner to all team members. Ensure the confidentiality of written, verbal and electronic communications pertaining to members, staff, families of consumers and agency operations.
  • Demonstrate and maintain professional and productive working relationships with all agency departments, staff, board members, funding sources, members, referral sources, families utilizing or enquiring about services, federal, state, local and other entities.
  • Assist with ensuring the accurate completion of administrative tasks to include, but not limited to: payroll, program development, scheduling, program documentation, service authorization, recovery vision implementation and general record keeping related to the department. Attend meetings and actively participate in internal and external committees. Submit reports to the Program Manager, Program Director and/or Vice President and administrative staff.
  • Assist with providing oversight to Supported Employment program. Ensure good program outcomes by providing training, supervision and mentoring for staff, monitoring outcomes and implementing quality improvement plans/work plans. Lead Supported Employment team members, coordinating daily activities to include but not limited to expectations regarding time spent in the community, employer contacts, pre-employment assistance including resume writing, interview techniques, job searching, etc. Assist with Supported Employment fidelity reviews, assists with fidelity work plans based upon recommendations from fidelity report. Assists with the implementation and sustainability of the Supported Employment program.
  • Assist with ensuring that agency procedures, licensing, monitoring, certification, regulatory and accreditation standards related to health and safety are maintained. Observe for and immediately respond to any reported health and safety concerns or violations. When assigned, complete, process and submit incident reports accurately and within established timelines. Be aware of members' physical restrictions
  • As assigned, carry a small caseload of Job Searching and Job Coaching members.
  • As assigned, assist members in obtaining individualized information about how entitlements (e.g., SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, EBT, etc.) will be affected by employment so members can make informed decisions about employment opportunities. This includes utilizing the DB101 website and interpreting session results accurately. Refer members to Ticket to Work if they choose.
  • As assigned, work with members to complete a Career Interest Profile via O*Net to evaluate areas of interest.
  • As assigned, complete a Vocational Profile to obtain member's past work history and current employment goals.
  • As assigned, discuss member's preference for disclosure of mental health status to employers.
  • As assigned, conduct job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the members on his/her caseload following the principles and procedures of Copa Health's Supported Employment Program.
  • As assigned, attend weekly Clinical Team Meetings to provide updates on members and coordinate and integrate vocational services along with mental health treatment.
  • Demonstrate ability to recognize and support Copa Health's Core Values.
  • To ensure compliance & adequate services, additional job duties may be required to meet the needs of the program and or department.
