ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Write, edit and revise technical documentation for accuracy, consistency, re-use of content, and ease of translation. Develop succinct visual and editorial solutions for complex processes, data sets and information. Tailor technical content to target audiences while maintaining a consistent voice and presentation of information for all internal communication and deliverables. Facilitate internal reviews and approvals. Partner and collaborate with operating companies, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to obtain and clarify content (text, graphics, drawings, etc).Analyze existing and potential content, while focusing on reuse and accuracy. Champion and maintain consistency by adhering to industry and organization-specific standards (e.g., regulatory requirements, templates, and style guides). Maintain and document project status. Communicate status of projects regularly to key RiteHite personnel in the US and internationally. Anticipate priorities and evaluate requests for their impact on priorities and time to delivery. Maintain version control of publications and related assets thru the proofing and publication cycle. Apply and maintain best practices for safety standards, legal, and industry requirements (e.g. ANSI, CE). Coordinate language translations for manuals, quality control of translations and tracking changes and versions for US and international locations. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 4-year degree in technical writing, graphic design, desktop publishing, and/or communications. 5 years of demonstrated work experience in a comparable position editing or working with text and graphics for technical information or instruction. Solid written communication skills, specifically technical writing, editing, and documentation experience is required. Strong desktop publishing/production art and efficient file building know-how are needed. This is not a creative graphic design position. Must understand and be able to effectively use templates, style sheets, fonts, and various formats of graphic files in the creation of multi-page documents. Must be comfortable handling multiple assignments while meeting customer needs. KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will demonstrate: * Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, the Adobe Creative Suite of software applications, and Microsoft Office. * Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and critical thinking skills/problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication skills (oral and written). The ability to successfully communicate and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (engineers, sales, technicians, and international colleagues) is critical. Strong listening, interviewing and negotiation skills. * Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings, engineering documents, instructions, and legal requirements. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral, diagram or graphic form. * The ability to quickly learn and accurately communicate complex technical concepts. * Excellent command of the English language and proofreading. Highly proficient in grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and the use of an active vs passive voice. * The ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. * High degree of flexibility for changing priorities, standards, and project demands. * Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge of structured authoring, XML and/or HTML tools/solutions.
