The Mechanical Design Engineer will be challenged with complex technical issues in a dynamic project environment. This position contributes to the team responsible for the design of the primary sodium mechanical pump in the Natrium Demo reactor.Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks. Take personal responsibility, understanding impact of design and associated risk. Consider customer needs and maintain open communication with interfacing engineers and project stakeholders.•Lead and conduct mechanical design, analyses, evaluations, and verifications for the Natrium Primary Sodium Mechanical Pump.•Responsible for supporting work on projects with low to moderate complexity.•Execute the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define the Natrium Primary Sodium Mechanical Pump to meet business standards and program / product requirements.•Performance of fundamental engineering hand calculations and modeling.•Develop drawings and specifications to assure products can reliably meet all engineering and quality requirements.•Maintaining focus to assessing causality and risk.•Preparing and presenting technical data to internal customers.•Lead/facilitate discussion and information exchange to promote open dialogue including working effectively in a matrixed team environment.•Ensuring that product designs meet all intended application and design requirements by working with experts in other functional teams.Skills & Qualifications:•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related area from an accredited college or university.•Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Mechanical Pump Design.•In-depth knowledge of major reactor systems and their operation.•In-depth knowledge of reactivity control systems for existing fleet nuclear power plants.•Proven technical skills within project management environment.•Strong oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write organized engineering documents.•Commercial Nuclear Power Plant Systems experience, Professional Engineering License, or Advanced Degree from an accredited college or university.•Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.•Demonstrated leadership skills, including a minimum of 2 years of experience as a lead or lead contributor on major projects.•Knowledge of nuclear plant systems and analyses techniques, commercial plant outages, and nuclear industry practices.•Experience with design, evaluation, and operation of nuclear power plant components.•Knowledge of the ASME/AWS codes.•Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design.•Proficiency with ANSYS FEA analysis.About Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
