Role and Responsibilities

As a GPU Performance Modeling Engineer, you will work as part of the GPU Architecture team where you will develop performance models and triage to fix performance-related issues for a highly efficient mobile GPU. You have a curious mindset that thrives on navigating the unknown through innovation and continuous learning. You will contribute towards current and future plans strategy.

We believe in connecting your area of expertise with the right level and functional discipline that can empower you to grow. You will have the unique opportunity to explore and contribute to the graphics pipeline, while broadening your knowledge in different aspects of GPU development.

  • You work closely with the architecture, SW, and design teams to understand the architecture and micro-architecture of the GPU and its units and to triage and fix performance-related issues
  • You develop tools and methodology to correlate and validate performance models for performance tracking and projection
  • You identify architecture, micro-architecture, and implementation optimizations to improve the performance of the GPU and its units
Skills and Qualifications

Minimum requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/relevant technical field, or 8+ years of experience with a Master's degree, or 4+ years of experience with a PhD
  • Experience developing performance models for a mobile GPU
  • Deep understanding of GPU or computer architecture and micro-architecture concepts
  • Good programming and/or scripting skills (Python is a plus)
  • Good understanding of power/performance trade-offs
  • Good understanding of VLSI concepts, HW design
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of GPU and Graphics Pipelines
  • Knowledge of GPU graphics and compute workloads including computer vision, image processing, and AI
  • Knowledge of game applications and game rendering engines

We're growing a team with talented individuals and diverse skillsets to build a technology roadmap and deliver market-leading GPU product. Our Xclipse GPU is the first mobile GPU with ray tracing technology that enables console-level graphic for Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Being part of a unique growing team at a well-established global company means you have limitless room to explore, innovate, and grow by wearing different hats. Our GPU Architect team delivers whole system architecture-level design for Samsung's current and next-generation mobile GPU. Depending on the functional discipline, they're responsible for anywhere from early-stage architectural exploration, research work focusing on graphic and machine learning, defining new features, modeling, to diving into microarchitecture design and programming work.

Total Rewards

At Samsung - SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,345 and $257,336. Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.

Samsung employees have access to benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), free onsite lunch, employee purchase program, tuition assistance (after 6 months), paid time off, student loan program, wellness incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.

Additionally, this role might be eligible to participate in long term incentive plan and relocation.
