Job Responsibilities/Opportunities:
- Assist in the design, development, and characterization of infrared imaging and sensing prototypes.
- Contribute to the generation of new concepts for advanced infrared systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to transition research findings into practical applications.
- Present research findings, write technical reports, and contribute to proposals and scientific publications.
- Learn and grow under the mentorship of top scientists and engineers in the optics and nanophotonics field.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or related field.
- Experience with optical design tools such as ZEMAX, CODE V, or similar software.
- Proficiency in scripting languages and data analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python.
- Hands-on experience with optical systems in a lab environment.
- Basic knowledge of optical design and assembly techniques.
- Understanding of fundamental optics concepts including imaging, radiometry, physical and geometric optics, and polarization.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance
Location: This role is based in the Huntsville, AL area, and is 100% onsite.
