Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary:The Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment on job sites. This includes the operation of various pieces of heavy excavation equipment. This position reports directly to the Owner of JMC Inc. The operator is expected to be self-motivated but also willing to work as a team. JMC Inc. strives to provide our customers with seamless project execution from start to finish and therefore, we require the Operator to be dependable, hard-working, and committed to a safe working environment. The Operator may be required to work night and weekend hours depending on snow removal needs and some Saturdays.Primary Duties:Operation of heavy equipment.Greasing and cleaning equipment.Perform daily machine maintenance checks.May occasionally be required to assist other team members, such as Laborers, when needed.Assists owner with all tasks as they relate to the job and daily duties.Secondary (Winter) Duties:JMC Inc. may provide snow services such as snow plowing and removal. The Operator may be required to work night and or weekend hours. Which may also require the Operator to remain on-call (not compensable, unless called in to work).Skills:Thorough understanding of practices involved in the use of various types of heavy equipment.Thorough understanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with heavy equipment.Thorough understanding of safety rules and ability to safely operate machinery.Superior skill operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently.Must be flexible in changing tasks and assignments.Must be able to follow and take directions.Must have a high attention to detail.Must possess a strong work ethic.Must be a reliable team player.Education/Licenses/Certificates:A High School Diploma or equivalent is a plus but not necessary.Valid Drivers License.DOT Medical Card (must obtain prior to hire date)OSHA 10 Certificate (to be acquired within 6 months of hire date)Experience:A minimum of 2 years experience in the field, required.Physical Requirements:Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.Must be able to sit, walk, stand, squat, kneel, carry, lift, and climb.Ability to work under a variety of work conditions both indoors and outdoors. This includes loud noises, dust, and exposure to seasonal temperatures and inclement weather (extreme heat or cold temperatures possible).Must be able to work some Saturdays, as needed.
