Job Description:
The Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) will be a member of the IMS Operations leadership team supporting IMS segment in the development, execution and continual improvement of the organization’s strategic EHS plan. This individual will have a thorough understanding of EHS principals, leading industry practices and governing regulations.
Essential Functions:
Lead (directly or indirectly) a team of EHS professionals to drive an action-oriented safety culture with a sense of urgency and with the goal of attaining “world class” performance
Provide technical and professional leadership regarding applicable EHS regulations and issues for all IMS segment operations (manufacturing, office, laboratory, and R&D)
Ensure regulatory and corporate compliance via established auditing processes and risk analysis
Spearhead EHS improvements within the segment and assist with identifying, conceptualizing, and implementing improvement projects and RCCA actions related to EHS
Drive processes to evaluate EHS risks and implement technical and practical controls to eliminate them
Routinely present status report of EHS programs (including performance metrics and corrective actions) to executive leadership.
Develop new programs to streamline and simplify EHS programs and processes for Business Units as well as identify the “to fix” gaps in existing EHS programs and processes
Provide direct involvement with BUs to ensure environmental compliance through the collection of data and timely reporting of required by regulation to include federal, state and local obligations
Leads and drives the development of IMS’s sustainability strategy, goals and metrics, in conjunction with external experts and relevant cross-functional teams (i.e. corporate, engineering, and manufacturing teams)
Manages and develops sustainability communications internally with key stakeholders
Delivers completion of monthly review of key metrics including carbon, energy, water, and waste, by gathering and analyzing source data
Coordinate with EHS and HR to support full circle injury case management and return to work
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 7 to 10 years EHS experience in roles of increasing responsibility and leadership
Experience with OSHA, EPA, DOT & NFPA requirements
Experience developing and implementing safety, environmental and health programs, processes and framework for multiple sites
Ability to travel at least 25%
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance, which requires US Citizenship
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years experience with EHS with 8 years in a leadership role
Advanced EHS Degree
Experience with Gensuite (or equivalent) EHS Data management system
Experience in a fast paced manufacturing background
Professional EHS Certifications (CIH, CSP, CHMM)
Formal training in root cause analysis (TapRoot, Apollo, etc)
