SENIOR ACQUISITIONS EDITOR FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE, MIT Press , will strategically acquire and develop textbooks and professional books on significant topics in computer science, statistics, robotics, and the physical sciences, as determined by signing goals. Will manage a pipeline of projects and work with authors and peer reviewers to develop the highest quality manuscripts for instructors, students, and professionals; actively oversee a backlist of projects and serve as the primary point of contact with authors; establish robust relationships with MIT faculty members and wider networks of advisors and prospective authors, with a focus on high-impact textbooks as well as professional works; and will promote the growth and continued success of this industry leading, legacy MITP portfolio.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of book acquisitions experience in computer science or a related field or nine years of experience total; solid track record of book acquisitions, including textbooks in computer science or a related field; excellent written and verbal communication, and negotiation skills; knowledge of publishing contracts and terms and higher education community; and ability to work with academic authors and deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion. PREFERRED : Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field; and knowledge of LaTeX. Job #24616-8
