Join our bartending team at Forge & Vine We have a 25-seat bar with service bar and 156 seat fast-paced restaurant. We freshly squeeze all of our juices and will train on recipes for our signature cocktails. We change our cocktails seasonally so you can be a part of developing new cocktails. We will have both an indoor and outdoor bar and bartenders serve tables as well. Join a great environment and a great team
Location: Forge & Vine, Groton, MA
Hours: Approximately 20 to 30 hours per week
Compensation: $9 per hour + tips
Start date: ASAP.
Experience: Liquor, beer and wine knowledge strongly preferred.
JOB SUMMARY:
Working as a member of our Food & Beverage Team, ensure that guests have an enjoyable experience by providing quality customer service, while mixing and responsibly serving of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, accurately processing and collecting payment, and stocking and cleaning of our licensed premise. Work closely with Restaurant Management, Kitchen Staff and Food & Beverage personnel to help guarantee our guests a Food & Beverage experience which exceeds their expectations.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform.
- Be sure bar is correctly set up and fully stocked before shift begins and that bar is properly cleaned and closed at end of shift according to property specifications. Assist with ongoing bar inventory keeping track of wines, beers, liquors and other supplies.
- Greet guests warmly, politely and in a timely manner. Speak to guests with enthusiasm.
- Be prepared to answer questions about beverage service and beverage menu, including liquors, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic choices. Recognize opportunities to up-sell where appropriate.
- Understand State of Maine regulatory responsibilities regarding service of alcoholic beverages.
- Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests according to property specifications, courteously and efficiently. Avoid overpours and spillage.
- Complete affidavit required by the MA Department of Public Safety Liquor Licensing and Inspection Division confirming eligibility to sell liquor.
- Understand order taking systems to be able to clearly, accurately and quickly covey guest orders using computer or manual systems.
- Deliver beverages in an efficient manner following appropriate beverage service techniques. Ensure that drinks are presented to guests as ordered and according to restaurant quality standards. Clear tables of drinks and dishes as required. Clean glassware, barware, and dishes using mechanical or manual methods.
- Work with Servers and Bussers to ensure that guest's needs are continually met. Help to educate other members of the Food & Beverage Team on beverages available and service techniques.
- Assist guests with any needs, corrections or additional items desired during service.
- Prepare and present customer bills. Correctly understand all payment methods accepted, how to process payment, make change, and open/close cash drawer, if required.
- Understand reporting requirements for tips.
- Ability to safely operate restaurant equipment including, but not limited to coffee makers, refrigeration, juice machines, ice machines, ice crusher, point of sale systems, etc.
- Handle and communicate special orders and guest complaints in a professional manner.
- Maintain bar service area cleanliness as well as personal cleanliness and sanitation standards as required by the MA Department of Health and Human Services and OSHA, as well as general maintenance and upkeep of the licensed premise.
- Know who to notify in case of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions.
- Must be able to manually handle/lift/carry product up to 60 pounds between knee and shoulders.
- Must have bilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entire shift.
- Must be vertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States of America and be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous beverage service work preferred, but not always required.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and written, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work as a part of a team.
- Ability to understand verbal directions, as well as written menus, recipes, labels on foods and chemicals, and other workplace safety signage.
- Active listening and observation skills.
- Knowledge of common food allergies and understanding of cross-contamination issues.
- Outgoing personality, with good oral comprehension, expression, and speech clarity.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
