Description

The Foundry Process Engineer provides engineering and metallurgical support to the Foundry acting as a key liaison between the Foundry, Metallurgy and Product Engineering. A primary goal of the position is to identify process and other continuous improvement opportunities and to develop and implement those improvements. This includes identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve casting quality, researching solutions and implementing corrective actions, including implementation and refinement of standard work and process controls. It also includes documentation of procedures and training of foundry staff to ensure adherence and sustainability. The position collaborates with Foundry, Metallurgy, Continuous Improvement and Engineering personnel to identify and drive projects, including capital improvements, to achieve improved quality, reduced cost, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

The candidate we seek should have a bachelor's degree in metallurgical, materials or other engineering discipline with a minimum of 4 years of work experience in an engineering role in a metal casting facility preferred. Experience leading foundry process, continuous improvement projects and documenting foundry procedures is a must. Experience training casting personnel is also highly desired. Strong demonstrated analytical, communication and leadership skills are essential. Lean Six Sigma training and proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
