The Role
The Controller position is responsible for overseeing all accounting and finance functions for a U.S. -based distribution company located in the Houston, Texas area.This position reports directly to the parent company in Mexico and requires strong leadership skills to effectively manage financial operations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the parent company.The Controller will play a crucial role in driving financial strategy, optimizing financial performance, and supporting decision-making processes to achieve the company's goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting functions for the company along with several other small subsidiaries.
- Perform hands-on month-end close activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and consolidations.
- Oversee and provide guidance to a team of 3 accounting staff members.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting principles and serve as the audit liaison.
- Understand the big picture of accounting and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline and optimize accounting processes.
- Utilize the Epicor system to facilitate efficient financial operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- Proven experience in successfully implementing best practices and creating efficiencies in accounting processes using technology.
- Familiarity with the Epicor system is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
