Reporting to: Senior Director of Electrical Engineering

Your role in the mission:
This position will help develop the models for the simulation and emulation of physical subsystems for both internally and externally developed systems. In this role you will interface between the process or physical model and the EPICs control system.

The benefits of full system simulation is the development of the control interface which includes the definition of the control I/O, data monitoring, fault handling and control algorithms for aiding the development of the middleware of the EPICs control system and the user facing HMI interfaces. It is desired to be able to incorporate the simulation software base with the development of the full control system for continuous integration testing of the application software deliverables. Other responsibilities include:

Model Physical processes - voltage, current, temp, flow, pressure, strain of the physical operational parameters for a system or subsystem.

Model Control Interface - EPICs Process Variables and Control Loop development for interface to the physical models. Real-time performance is desired.

Model Data stream - simulation/generation of process data for monitoring and analysis. This simulated data interface to the control system will also require development.

System and Subsystem integration between the Physical model and EPICs Control System. Packaging the physical process data for use with the EPICs control and system data interfaces.

Requirements, Test Plan and Reports for developed software. Testing includes standalone unit testing and continuous integration testing.

Continuous Integration Development with Control System Software. It is desired that simulation packages be autorun via the Build system.

Documentation - Design Description documentation for developed code. Documentation includes system interface and UML modeling of developed code.

Tools and computing platform selection- Implementation requirements for modeling of physical processes and simulation of data streams may require unique tools and computing resources.

What you'll need:

BS or advanced degree in engineering, physics, or related field.
Experience of software Languages - C/C++, Python, Matlab, UML, CMake, Ninja, Bash
Tools experience - LabView, LTSpice, Source Level Debugging, UML modeling, Requirements Generation and Tracking.
Operating System experience - Linux, Windows, Real-Time OS.
Networking experience- Communication protocols, cyber security, TCP, UDP, Routing Configuration
