Alumni Engagement Specialist

The Alumni Engagement Specialist serves as a member of the Alumni Relations team, responsible for the support and promotion of alumni relations' initiatives, programs, event planning, promotion, communication, and marketing. The AES will also assist with the planning and facilitation of signature programs such as Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, Homecoming, special affinity events and promotion of other programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for initiating and maintaining positive relationships between alumni and Liberty University to further develop commitment to the university through financial giving.
- Frequently communicating with alumni expressing gratitude, offering prayer, recognizing their birthday, as well as communicating the progress/success/needs of Liberty University.
- Monitor and update alumni information to ensure accurate reporting, follow-up, and event notification.
- Document each conversation with alumni in the CRM database for retention.
- Work directly with the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and the Alumni Engagement team to ensure all alumni are communicated with in a timely manner.
- Raise funds for Liberty University Alumni Scholarship,
- Must use discretion and follow process when connecting alumni through events and chapters.
- Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.
Build ongoing relationships with alumni through phone calls, letters/cards, emails, chapters and events.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
High School Diploma required with 2 to 3 years' experience in the field preferred. Excellent communication and social skills. Computer knowledge necessary. Event planning and management experience preferred.

- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Requires basic computer skills.
- Ability to follow directions with high customer service capabilities.
- Must be able to travel as needed
- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of a routine nature.
- Detail oriented and flexible with change
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
- Occasionally lift 10 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.
Driving Requirements
Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is not required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.
