Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Float Pool ICU CCU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour night shift, 3 nights a week Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: One year of experience preferred; nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Must-Have: - PATIENT CARE ICU experience - EPIC knowledge Job Description: - Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. - Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act. - Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. - Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data. - Evaluate patient's response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. - Develop and implement patient plans of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Demonstrate competency in therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. - Provide patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability. - Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs. - Provide relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience. - Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. - Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. - Act as a professional role model demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. - Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. - Use standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. - Seek out learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance. - Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning. - Evaluate integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations. - Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. - Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to enhance clinical knowledge and role performance. Note: Floating may be required to any location within 60 miles of the original assignment location.
