Electrician - WIPP Shaft/Mine

Harrison Western was founded in 1968 and has provided superior design and construction services to the mining and civil industries for over 50 years. We have entered a Joint Venture with Shaft Sinkers to construct a new utility shaft at WIPP (Waste Isolation Pilot Plant). WIPP is a Department of Energy facility located near Carlsbad, New Mexico. When the project is completed, the final shaft will measure 26 feet in diameter and extend to 2,275 feet below the surface. We are looking for an experienced Shaft/Mine Electrician. Electricians perform electrical repairs, installations, inspections and preventative maintenance of electrical lines, machinery and equipment both in and out of the shaft. The WIPP project is expected to take up to three years to complete. Open positions will be based on the operational need and may be months to years in duration. All positions are located at the WIPP site, 26 miles southeast of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Primary Duties and Responsibilities include: Take direction from the Master electrician Must be able to perform installation and maintenance on electric mining equipment and facilities Must be willing to work on the Galloway when needed PLC/circuit board troubleshooting Installing D C Drives and V F D's Installation of cables, J-boxes in the shaft Must be able to understand an electrical schematic and install accordingly High voltage installation and switching Must be willing to assist Top lander, Miners, Mechanics when not performing essential electrical duties Skills and Specifications: Ability to take direction from supervision Recognize hazards and safety risks Familiar with equipment and tools required for the position Ability to lift 50 lbs Work in a standing, seated, or other physical positions Must have strong troubleshooting skills Must have MSHA Electrical certification Must have own hand tools Shaft experience a plus Compensation and Benefits Competitive compensation and per diem 3 Medical plans to choose from Vision and Dental 8 paid holidays 401k with Company match that is immediately vested Harrison Western Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
