1. Partners with the Vice President to manage the strategic marketing communications planning process for the University and coordinate the execution of integrated marketing communications initiatives. 2. Provides regular oversight and direction to departmental managers to ensure delivery of integrated and strategic public relations and marketing communications solutions across paid, earned and owned media with effective tracking and performance reporting to document results and impact on university priorities. 3. Provides leadership and strategic input to the creative team to enhance the quality and effectiveness of marketing communications and advertising campaigns to promote the university and its colleges, raising their visibility and attracting prospective students, donors, research and investment partners, and health care patients. 4. Works with the Advertising & Analytics team to implement best-practice systems and methodologies to measure the effectiveness of public relations, advertising, digital communications and brand campaigns, tracking results and communicating return on investment impact to senior executives and stakeholders outside the division. 5. Oversees a team of college-based communications officers to ensure the development and implementation of strategic communications efforts that align with university and college priorities, often including a mix of Web and social media content management, the identification and packaging of strategic content to fuel recruitment, fundraising and visibility initiatives, as well as other communications needs and opportunities to advance the university and the college. 6. Responsible for institutional brand oversight ensuring continuity through the development and adoption of appropriate standards, policies and procedures. Acts as a leader, educator, advocate and mentor for fostering the engagement, understanding and support of colleagues across the university and its colleges and units to enhance brand alignment and the adoption of best-practice guidelines for written, Web, social media and other communications. 7. May serve as an official spokesperson for the university on external and internal issues, communicating the university’s position and policies on a variety of issues, able to interact effectively with the media and outside organizations as a representative of the division and the university. 8. Contributes strategic leadership and expertise to student recruitment and fundraising campaign planning and promotions, bringing in best practices for effective use of emerging technologies to enhance recruitment and fundraising campaigns, as well as increasing the effectiveness of the university’s use of Web, social media and digital communications to increase visibility and brand recognition, and drive lead generation, giving and alumni engagement. 9. Works with the public relations team to increase coverage of university education, research and health care to build name recognition and raises visibility for NSU among locally, regionally and nationally through effective use of media connections as well as influences campaigns and directs distribution to opinion leaders through use of digital channels and social media. 10. Leads and contributes as a key player in the university’s crisis communications team and protocols, and oversees internal communications to build understanding, support and advocacy among the university community for presidential priorities and key messages. 11. Oversees the social media teams, managing the governance of social media accounts across the university to ensure use of best practice leading to an enhance social media presence that contributes tangible results to university recruitment, fundraising and reputation-building goals. 12. Oversees division’s Web content management team, helping to lead and contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of NSU’s Web presence. Applies best-practice approaches to ensure brand alignment, successful optimization and accessibility performance, effective user experiences and measurable results in driving up visibility and Web-generated inquiries, application starts, donations, patient appointments and audience engagement. 13. Creates a collegial, interdisciplinary, integrated and team-focused working environment, where staff are engaged in and able to deliver results supportive of the division’s and colleges’ public relations and marketing communications plans. Able to mentor and motivate staff to build effective relationships in and outside the division, to maintain and elevate professional competencies, and to foster a culture of excellence, self-assessment and continuous learning to stay on top of best practices and emerging technologies. 14.
