The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Staff Auditor. In this role, you will assist the audit teams in the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases of audit projects and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance testing (SOX) in conformance with Internal Audit policies and procedures. The Staff Auditor is expected to develop audit proficiency by learning the principles and standards of the internal audit profession through continuing education/training and practical application of audit concepts in fulfilling their daily job responsibilities.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Assist in preparing, coordinating, and completing one or more SOX significant class of transactions (SCOT) design assessments.

  • Perform assigned tests of SOX controls according to established test procedures and attributes.

  • Execute detailed audit program steps that involve reviewing transactions, documents, records, reports, and compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Prepare work papers to properly record and summarize the results of detailed audit testing and assist in expressing an opinion on the outcome of detailed testing.

  • Assist the audit teams in monitoring audit client follow-up activities in accordance with the timeliness stated in final audit reports and proactively keep management apprised of progress.

  • Apply tools for data extraction and analysis (SAP S/4, Excel, Power BI, etc.).

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a comparable major
  • No prior professional experience in internal or external auditing is required.
  • Prior internships/experience in auditing, accounting, finance, or tax are preferred
  • Must be committed to attaining at least one relevant professional certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Practical experience with data analytics and related tools (SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, etc.) is preferred
  • Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act controls evaluation and testing capabilities are preferred
  • Experience with SAP S/4 or comparable Enterprise Resource Planning systems is preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
