The impact you will have in this role

Market Risk Director is responsible for the monitoring of daily margin calculation and managing market and liquidity risk exposures arising from trade execution and settlement activities in the various clearing corporations and the depository. Responsibilities also include driving new business initiatives, overseeing risk systems design and continuous enhancements, compliance with Risk Management policies and procedures. With strong interpersonal and leadership skills, understanding of margining methodologies, keen understanding of financial markets and client profiles, the ideal candidate will effectively manage the market risk team and collaborate with other DTCC teams to identify, analyze, and mitigate potential risks and safeguard financial market in which DTCC plays a pivotal role.

Your Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead market risk teams spread across global offices
  • Proactively identify and evaluate change in member's market risk exposures, liquidity needs and settlement obligations to call out and mitigate exposures in timely manner
  • Monitor market conditions and economic trends to anticipate potential risks and their potential impact on members' margin requirements
  • Mitigate risk by ensuring adherence of the processes to the policies and procedures, identifying potential model errors, and demonstrating strong ethical behavior
  • Develop and improve policies and procedures to enhance existing risk controls and compliance with the regulatory requirements
  • Manage issues arising from internal audits, regulatory exams, and risk assessment, collaborate with partners to develop and implement remediation plans
  • Present metrics to senior management and regulatory supervisors
  • Oversee and lead projects and process enhancements to ensure emerging risk is effectively mitigated in support of new and existing products
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) are a plus
  • Extensive work experience in managing financial risk and working on regulatory requirements within the financial services industry, specific understanding of clearing a is plus

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of related experience and 2+ years of managerial experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts in practical terms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly present to current and prospective members, regulators, and various departments within the organization
  • Expertise in the U.S. and global financial markets, knowledge of risk management frameworks (VaR, Backtest, Stress test) current regulatory developments and issues affecting the industry
  • Ability to build and manage diverse, impactful team on-site and remotely
