Position Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled platform engineer to join the MW Contract Operations DB&T team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and optimizing cloud based linux environments (AWS). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, assess cloud readiness, and design scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on the AWS platform. You will also support migration from OCI to AWS.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Design and implement cloud architectures on AWS, following best practices and architectural patterns.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Lead ongoing migration of solutions from on premise and other cloud provider solutions to AWS including but not limited to setting up infrastructure in AWS.
Enhance monitoring and alerting aspects of the applications.
Support deployment and integration of cloud services, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and business requirements.
Optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Optimize network compatibility and understand basic network & firewall needs to triage issues.
Ensure security and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Stay up-to-date with AWS services, features, and best practices, and recommend improvements or new solutions as needed.
Develop and expand skills related to application installations and configurations.
Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Support development and implementation of new projects and installations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in platform architecture and design, with a strong focus on AWS/OCI or Linux.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong expertise with Linux.
Experience with migration from OCI to AWS and setting up new infra/servers in AWS.
Knowledge of AWS cloud computing concepts, architectures, and best practices.
Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
This will be a hybrid role located in Milwaukee, WI or Paramus, NJ.
Travel up to 20% may be required.
