Introduction:

Our client seeks a full-time Systems Engineer to provide operation and maintenance support for a complex LAN and WAN infrastructure. The candidate will work on a small team responsible for O&M of a medium-sized integrated information system, serving as the primary POC for installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining software and hardware related to Windows services/functions. The candidate will also provide Tier 1-3 support, participate in system changes, monitor system logs, ensure backups and disaster recovery operations, and travel periodically for duties.

Role:

1. Work on a small team that operates and maintains a medium-sized integrated information system (IS).
2. Serve as the primary point of contact for installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining software and hardware related to Windows services/functions.
3. Perform related software updates and upgrades.
4. Maintain system documentation such as SOPs, job aids, etc.
5. Create and maintain current knowledge of Windows-related trends and issues.
6. Act as a technical consultant.
7. Provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 level support for incident or problem management.
8. Participate in the design, installation, configuration, testing, acceptance, and documentation of information system changes to hardware and software.
9. Help the organization meet KPI and SLA requirements by proactively monitoring the information system logs and alerts.
10. Ensure Backups and Disaster Recovery operations are successful.
11. Test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement fixes.
12. Assess system loads and work with the tech lead on developing tuning recommendations.
13. Write and maintain custom PowerShell scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the time required for human intervention in tasks.
14. Support information system ATO requirements by participating in security audits or scans and remediations.
15. Participate in new user requirements service requests processes such as technical exchange meetings, design reviews, and management briefings.
16. Assist with VMWare and occasionally other client-based applications in a Windows or Linux environment.
17. Travel periodically to perform duties.

Skills & Experience:

1. Demonstrated experience understanding ITIL Framework relating to Incident, Trouble, and Service Management.
2. Demonstrated experience with Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 and higher.
3. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server/DBA, WSUS, and SCCM.
4. Demonstrated experience with Dell Unity and NAS storage technologies.
5. Demonstrated experience with VMWare virtualization technology.
6. Demonstrated experience with Scripting and disaster recovery.
7. Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining servers, laptops, desktops, and printer hardware.
8. Demonstrated experience using TCP/IP, SSL, Power Shell, and SSH.
9. Demonstrated experience with DNS, DHCP, IIS, Group Policy, AD/LDAP, KMS, Registry, and File System Security.
10. Demonstrated experience with Endpoint Security and Remote Server Mgmt.
11. Demonstrated experience and in-depth understanding of Active Directory in a multi-site domain.
12. Demonstrated experience understanding security baselines such as NIST, DISA, or FIPS.
13. Demonstrated experience applying efficient task management and ability to adjust to changing requirements.
14. Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining system documentation.

Nice to Have:

1. Demonstrated experience in Windows and Linux operating system security.
2. Demonstrated experience with intrusion detection (logs), firewalls, SSL, VPNs, risk analysis, IDS / IPS configuration, monitoring, and optimization, security auditing, and threat analysis.
3. Demonstrated experience with Splunk, Qumulo, and SolarWinds.
4. Demonstrated experience with standardized orchestration and automation tools.
5. Demonstrated experience using 2FA (two-factor authentication).
6. Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal skills, and working as part of a team.
7. Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and experience commensurate with the requested Level in system administration; or if no degree equivalent expertise in system administration within the requested Level.
8. Certifications(s)-COMPTIA-related certifications (Server+, Network+, Security+), ITIL, MCSA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS).
