Principal Rail Safety Engineer

Job Duties:

Provide project management of complex rail system safety projects, including project development, budgeting, staff supervision, scheduling, status reporting, documentation production, and client interface. Provide consultative expert services regarding rail systems safety programs, railroad operating practices, application of Federal regulations and industry standards, risk assessment, and hazard prevention/mitigation. Perform safety, reliability, and quality audits of transportation systems, railway operations, and train control system application and practices. Assure that safety designs demonstrate rigorous safety concepts and design principles. Evaluate designs for compliance with customer requirements and regulatory requirements.

40 (Full-time)

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Engineering (or foreign equivalent) and 5 years of related rail safety experience required, including experience with electronic design or software engineering. Brief domestic and travel required.
