As a Business Development Finance Analyst at Magnolia Oil & Gas you will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's growth initiatives by analyzing financial data, evaluating potential business opportunities, and providing insights that inform strategic decision-making. This position requires a strong understanding of the oil and gas industry, financial modeling, and business development processes. You will work closely with senior management, geologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to assess opportunities that align with our company's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain complex financial models for evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify new business opportunities, industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes that could impact the company.
  • Perform valuations of potential acquisition targets, existing assets, and new development projects. Utilize various valuation methods such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Net Asset Value (NAV), and comparable company analysis.
  • Assist in due diligence processes, including data room management, financial and operational analysis, contract review, and coordination with external advisors.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and refine business strategies, including expansion plans, capital allocation, and growth initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and the board of directors to support decision-making on potential investments and business ventures.
  • Work closely with finance and operations teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities related to new business development.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and external partners, including financial institutions, and investors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required. Advanced degree (MBA or master's in finance), preferred.
  • 5+ years of business development/evaluation experience for an exploration and production company and/or investment banking, required.
  • Proven experience in financial modeling, investment analysis, and business valuation within the energy sector.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and financial data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with external partners.
  • Strategic mindset with a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, market dynamics, and emerging technologies is desirable.
