Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops paid job opportunities for adults who have been affected by opioid addiction. Provides work readiness training, job placement and job coaching to individuals with the expectation of achieving long-term employment. Work collaboratively under the supervision of the Program Manager to successfully implement and deliver supported employment services including the engagement of stakeholders, participants, and the leadership of program staff.

Essential Job Functions:

Program Director Support Assist with participant intakes and skill assessments. Assist in Work Readiness training activities including resume development. Communicates with Workforce Development Board of Northwest New Jersey (WDBNNJ) staff, employers, and partner organizations to create awareness and provide updates on program progress. Employment Specialist Responsibilities Complete all detailed and accurate documentation in the case management system daily. Provide instruction to participants on job duties and work-related skills at individual worksites and off-site through demonstration, role-playing, and/or verbal explanation. Provides counsel to participants on work-related issues including performance, work attitudes, and appropriate workplace behavior. Provides travel instruction to participants if necessary. Consult with employers of disclosed individuals on the participant's performance and training needs; may guide employers in methods of supervising and training individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) Conducts progress assessments monthly or as needed. Maintain excellent communication with stakeholders, including monthly update reports to the WDBNNJ Staff.

Placement Specialist Responsibilities Develops job leads for participants by contacting employers in target industries; responding to job postings and ads; and conducting internet searches. Provides information and counsel on career options. Maintains a record of employer contacts in case management computer program and distributes marketing materials, including fact sheets, brochures and resumes to potential employers as needed. Shares job leads with individuals and co-workers; coordinates participant's job search strategies; is aware of labor market trends and training programs. Engages participants in their job development and assists participants with their job search skills. In conjunction with the participants, develop resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and/or other materials. Visit potential job sites to evaluate the environment and to analyze job requirements in relation to the participant's skill profile. Complete all detailed and accurate documentation in the case management system daily.

NOTE:

The successful candidate must foster an atmosphere of inclusion and respect for all community members and coworkers. Within the office and the community, you will act to promote cultural competence through your actions and work to provide services, referrals, and information to community members. The successful candidate must also be client-focused and willing to travel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of an AA degree in a Human Service-related field from an accredited college Possession of a valid driver's license and automobile suitable for reimbursable use of a personal vehicle for work assignments. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite A minimum of one year's experience working with individuals affected by Substance Use Disorders (SUD).

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role has no direct reports.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will be determined by your supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

This position requires 25% travel. Travel demands are dependent on business needs and may be subject to change.
