Summary: Our client, a nationally recognized distribution company, seeks a Financial Planning Analyst who utilizes financial planning and analysis skills to support designated Market Units. This position conducts financial analysis, financial and operational results reporting, financial planning and forecasting, and project-based work to support the day-to-day business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data as well as quantify financial opportunity/risk, and communicate the results
  • Enhance and/or develop new financial analyses, models, and/or tools to improve existing analyses/models/tools, in support of management decision-making
  • Prepare financial and operational reporting, on both a regular and ad hoc basis
  • Support the development of annual operating plans, including Market Unit budgets and Corporate budgets
  • Support the development of monthly Market Unit forecasts
  • Partner with Market Unit Finance Managers and other functional managers to promote process improvements
  • Participate in process improvement projects across the company
  • Support the company in the utilization and improvement of Power BI and other Business Intelligence tools
  • Support multiple teams and departments by analyzing KPIs for additional opportunities to eliminate waste in standard processes
  • Provide customer service to internal customers
  • Support business initiatives and special projects
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, and 2 plus years of experience doing financial analysis, reporting, analytical assignments, and project work in business operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work with large amounts of data
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments at the same time
  • Travel up to 25%

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Masters degree and/or CPA
  • Experience in the distribution, manufacturing, and/or consumer goods industry
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications i.e., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience with Power BI or other Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience with analytics automation tools; i.e., Alteryx
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting software
