Position Summary:Assists in food preparation, service, packaging, cleanup and other kitchen activities.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Cook, following Cook's daily instruction, adhering to priorities, and notifying Cook of problems.
  • Clean dining room and kitchen including cupboards, shelves, racks, work surfaces, cooking equipment, large and small appliances, dishes and utensils. Keep refrigerators and freezers clean
  • Assist cook in food preparation and service of lunch meal
  • Move, unpack and stores supplies
  • Assist in taking food inventory, maintaining orders of food and household supplies, and organizing storage area
  • Clean dining area, kitchen, including all shelves, closets, racks, work surfaces, dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment
  • Assist in setting up of chairs and tables for center programs as needed
  • Cook and serve meals, in absence of cook
  • Dispose garbage in accordance with Department of Sanitation regulations
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • May deliver homebound meals, in some instances, to homebound clients.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Adhere to organization's standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including - but not limited to - Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization's mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization's policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance
Salary Ranges: $16 - $18 per hour commensurate with experience.

Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); oror one to threemonths related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must hold a valid Food Protection Certificate or be willing to take course under DFTA auspices.
  • Problem solving abilities while multi-tasking; ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
Working Conditions/Physical Demand:
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance,stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles, and occasional risk of electrical shock.
