Job Summary:
The President/CEO is responsible for the overall success of the bank. Under the direction of, and in cooperation with, the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for providing leadership and direction regarding day-to-day Bank operations in support of the organization's strategic plan for growth and profitability while maintaining compliance with the Board of Directors' approved policies and governing laws and regulations. The CEO is responsible for developing business strategies and plans, ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for and keep the Board of Directors informed of financial results of operations, performance of the loan portfolio and individual loans, industry and/or geographical competition, and business development efforts.
- Make recommendations to the Board of Directors on a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to personnel and staffing changes, lending programs, new or redesigned products and services, annual operating budgets, technology enhancements, and cost structure of the Bank.
- Establish a vision for the bank for investors, employees and the community. Execute plans to successfully achieve the vision.
- Maintain a culture of strong risk management and address key dimensions such as regulatory, reputational, cyber, compliance and credit risk.
- Develop and meet annual cash flow projections to include growth in key business areas. Regularly meet with officers and other key staff to communicate policies, goals, and delegation of responsibility for daily operations and administration.
- Ensure the needs of customers and clients are satisfied and resolve escalated customer or client complaints.
- Represent the Bank and provide leadership in key community activities.
- Support senior management by assisting with the supervision of the officer staff and by collaborating with them on staffing and organizational needs.
- Provide overall direction to the development and maintenance of standards for operating efficiency with comprehensive, specific, and measurable goals.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop ongoing short and long-range goals.
- Continuously review and adapt business practices to adhere to American Bank & Trust strategic objectives and goals.
- Enthusiasm to become involved with professional and civic organizations supporting the markets served by the Bank in harmony with the Bank's desired image of being a trusted community resource.
- Be consistent with the Bank's marketing objectives and policies set forth in the Community Reinvestment Act statement and take an active role in the community.
- Perform all supervisory/managerial responsibilities in a manner that fully complies with the Bank's Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy and that meets the requirements of all related federal and state regulations. Adhere to all EEO/AA guidelines and regulations in the hiring, placement, promotion, transfer, selection, and training processes.
- Manage and support direct reports by making sound hiring decisions, training each new hire and current staff as needed, and continually mentoring staff to assist in their success.
- Address performance and behavior issues with Human Resources and follow through with appropriate action.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of banking operations and familiarity with lending policies.
- Proven effective management skills.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field required.
- MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of management experience required.
- 10+ years of banking experience required.
- 5+ years of commercial/consumer banking experience required.
- Ability to operate general office equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
