The National Association of Counties (NACo), representing America’s 3,069 county governments with 40,000 elected officials, 3.6 million county employees and more than $660 billion in annual community-based investments,

seeks a Director of Digital Communications. Under the direction of the Director of Strategic Communications and working collaboratively across teams, this position leads NACo’s digital and multimedia efforts to advance the association’s objectives in membership engagement, policy advocacy and thought leadership.

Position Responsibilities and Activities: Manage and oversee the NACo Digital Communications Team, responsible for NACo’s website (NACo.org), social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, video production, and live streaming Develop and execute digital content strategies that align with NACo’s goals in membership engagement, policy advocacy, and thought leadership, combining a drumbeat of effective digital communication with key moments of heightened engagement Handle the management of a Drupal-based website, requiring technical proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as content strategy and an eye for UI design In collaboration with other members of the team, create custom interactive webpages for NACo’s flagship reports, programs, and events Utilize digital tools and software such as Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, and InDesign to support the team in creating compelling digital content Oversee the team member responsible for the NACo Achievement Awards, managing the marketing plan, application, and judging processes for a decades-old revenue-generating program Manage the digital communications budget, ensuring all projects and deliverables are completed within allocated resources Collaborate effectively across all NACo departments to integrate digital communication strategies with overall organizational goals Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A degree in communications, media, political science, or a related field – advanced degree preferred Proven experience in digital media management, preferably in a leadership role. Strong technical skills in web development, video production, and use of digital design tools In-depth knowledge of the hardware and software used in video production and live streaming 2+ years direct manager experience for social media and email communication teams Excellent project management skills, with an ability to lead and manage a team Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across various departments 5+ years of experience in the fields of digital content strategy, digital communications, or policy communications

Working Conditions: Hybrid work schedule is available, with minimum requirement of 2 days in the office to collaborate Some travel required
