TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Houston, Texas, 77030 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CRRT, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - Early recognition of change in patient condition - Clear communication and escalation with providers - Critical thinking skills - Experience with CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilators, and managing various drains/surgical sites Job Description: - Work in a 12-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit - Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3, depending on patient acuity - Manage common diagnoses like liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries, ENT cancer surgeries, and complex infections - Required to titrate drips such as vasopressin, epinephrine, and others - Collaborate with charge nurses and adhere to staffing requirements - Work alongside intermittent nurse aides/patient care techs, responsible for patient ADLs and other duties - Ensure communication with intensivists, who are available in-house 24/7 - Troubleshoot respiratory equipment, but not principally responsible for them - Read and interpret patient telemetry strips using Phillips monitors - Engage in self-scheduling with balancing assistance from management - Follow weekend requirements of 4-6 days within 6 weeks - Adhere to holiday and floating requirements - Comply with dress code: teal bottoms, black or printed coordinating scrub tops, no fleece jackets, and no artificial nail enhancements - Complete 2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation - Utilize EpicCare Inpatient EMR system for charting and documentation 26214528EXPTEMP Job Requirements Required for Onboarding ACLS - AHA BLS - AHA Core Competency Pharmacology Skills Checklist Specialty Exam 5 Benefits of Travel Nursing Facing new challenges regularly builds resilience.
