If you're ambitious and looking for an opportunity to develop your buying career and gain experience within a unique British lifestyle brand this is a great opportunity to join our team. You'll work closely with the Merchandising, Design and Technical teams to create the season's range, ensuring that the product reflects the departmental strategy, the range is without gaps or duplication and that the season is logically and commercially thought through.
Partnering with Merchandising you will also achieve, and aim to exceed, the agreed sales and profit targets irrespective of fluctuating trends, and manage an effective and timely product sign off process, appropriate for product lead time as per the Buying Calendar and adhering strictly to the Critical Path.
Please note this role is a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave and is primarily based in our Falmouth head office with occasional remote working.
**You'll help us by:**
* Responsible for buying Rain, Footwear and Home categories
* Developing a clear understanding of the Seasalt customer and work with Designer to actively develop a Seasalt handwriting
* Thoroughly understanding competitors pricing strategies and advising on any actions to remain competitive
* Confidently liaising across sales channels
* Proposing and agreeing any growths and declines and speak confidently about department's performance, providing evidence to support proposals
* Cultivating opportunities with suppliers and ensuring that a product sourcing strategy is in place which maximises margin and a agile supply chain.
* Challenging supply base on lead times and to remain proactive,
* Reacting to trade performance, providing management with repeat opportunities as well as cancellations to maximise profit
* Costing product and questioning supplier prices to ensure best possible price without effecting quality as well as costing where required to ensure best prices are achieved.
* Supporting and developing more junior members of the team
**The skills you'll be sharing with the team:**
With solid experience in fashion Buying as a Junior/Senior Assistant Buyer or more experienced Buyer, above all youll be passionate about product and commercially driven. Previous experience in above categories is beneficial. Unphased by a fast-moving environment, youll be adept at working under pressure and managing competing priorities and deadlines.
Creativeness and an excellent attention to detail are a given, as is strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels. You'll also be a great team player, able to motivate yourself and others.
