The Senior Accountant performs accounting and compliance responsibilities for the Operations Accounting functional area. This role is primarily responsible for accounting, reporting, and administrative functions related to Red Lobsters seafood inventory, in addition to other varied accounting functions. The role will also be responsible for ensuring state and federal government compliance for Form 1099 reporting and backup withholding, which includes maintaining and communicating W9/W8 policies and procedures to internal stakeholders, vendors and purchasing partners.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Create and record journal entries around seafood inventory in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, with a strong understanding of impact to financial statements

* Perform monthly account reconciliations for assets and liabilities accounts related to seafood inventory and other assigned accounts

* Maintain clear and consistent communication with the third-party partners for seafood supply, warehouse, and distribution. Work with Supply Chain to ensure credits requested from Distributors are appropriate and approved

* Prepare weekly Seafood Sales Aging Reports; prepare weekly and monthly balancing report between third party ERP system (SAP) and internal ERP systems (Oracle). Investigate and resolve discrepancies

* Prepare weekly and monthly Standard Cost Adjustment reporting for both US and Canada

* Perform monthly review of the restaurant utilities accruals and propose necessary adjustments

* Oversee the annual IRS 1099 Form compliance by preparing the 1099 Forms accurately and timely using a third-party platform and administer associated reporting with vendors and the Internal Revenue Service

* Maintain policies, processes and procedures that fully meet all IRS US and cross-border (International) withholding and reporting rules, as applicable. Recommend updates to policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with existing or new/revised IRS regulations & codes

* Process Supplier Exception reports, verify integrity of the daily Accounts Payable TIN number inputs, analyze, and resolve any variances

* Support Legal Department in researching invoices for pending litigation as needed or

* Ad-hoc analysis and projects as requested by management

**REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:**

* Bachelors degree in accounting and/or finance. CPA, MSA or MBA is a plus

* Minimum three (3) years of relevant accounting/reporting experience, including a strong understanding of accrual accounting, internal controls, and accounting processes and practices

* Experience with IRS 1099 Reporting compliance is preferred, but not required

**OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:**

* Excellent communications skills, both written and oral

* Strong knowledge in Microsoft Excel, including more advanced functions such as lookups and/or pivot tables. Proficiency with other Microsoft programs including Word and Outlook

* Strong analytical skills

* Experience with Oracle and Business Intelligence (or equivalent systems and reporting tools)

* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with peers, all levels of management and third-party partners

* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize a high-volume workload

* Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

* Exhibit a sense of urgency, understanding of the importance of month-end closing deadlines
